✅ 1. Check for Frost or Ice Buildup Outside
Look at the outdoor unit — is it coated in frost or ice? Some frost is normal, but if it’s fully iced over and not defrosting within 5–10 minutes, the system might be struggling.
⚠️ Don’t chip ice manually — it can damage the coil.
What to do:
- Ensure nothing blocks airflow (leaves, snow, garbage bins)
- Watch for defrost cycle — fan should stop briefly, steam may rise
- If no defrost cycle happens, contact a technician
🧼 2. Clean or Replace Air Filters
Dirty indoor filters reduce airflow, causing the system to overwork and underheat — especially in cold weather.
What to do:
- Check your return grille or ductless head
